Who she is

Our Lady of Charity is the Patroness of Cuba, and in Cuban culture she stands for hope and strength. In the print, boats ride the waves at her feet. Anyone who knows her will recognize them right away as a sign that she protects the people who call on her. People come to her from different directions. Some come through prayer, some through Cuban heritage, and some through the long work of resilience and social justice. I wanted the print to hold room for all of them.

The print

I pull each one on vintage press equipment, onto durable paper that will hold up for years. At 6x8, it fits easily on an altar shelf or in a prayer corner, and it holds its own in a gallery wall next to other Catholic art.
